College Essay Guy VignettesAs I went over my college essays, the first several were just completely terrible and what do you know! One day I was about to send an essay and I noticed something, when I started re-reading it, a name from my past came up in one of the vignettes. I was absolutely floored!The name was mine! This college essay is a writer's dream, because in the story I wanted to write, 'The college essay guy' was actually my Dad, and I was starring in a feature film called 'Moms and Dads: When Students Clash,' with my older brother Adam as my Dad and younger sister Janet as Mom.So now this strange piece of my life had become an entertaining story to tell in my writing and I loved every bit of it. I knew that if I could do it well I would be able to share it with my friends, family and fellow writers.As I thought about college essay guy vignettes, the whole idea struck me. And so I started brainstorming, researching, and being amazed at how much information I already had on the topic of writer's block and 'what does it feel like to be a writer.' So many things about being a writer came rushing back to me and I began writing a novel!To sum it up, I am my Dad, but my Dad is me. My brother Adam was my oldest brother and my sister Janet was my youngest. I always thought it was very strange when the middle name went by, but later I realized that my father was Joseph Gordon-Levitt.So now this funny story has taken on a life of its own, with Joe Gordon-Levitt's ghost writer named Jayna Holmes as the daughter, she is a great role model and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's ghost writer is my younger brother, Jonathan. The only problem is, my brother is in trouble for a murder he committed and was accused of, and he's being held in a juvenile detention center. With Jonathan being in jail for the murder, he finds himself becoming depressed and writing a letter to his dad who he claims to be dead, but who turns out to be hiding out in Canada.But Jonathan soon discovers tha t his father has a lot to hide and he soon finds himself running from the police. When he does, his father persuades him to tell them what he knows about his father's criminal past and everything is unraveled. Thus is the story of the College Essay Guy.Now I have been writing fiction and story books for a few years now, but I wanted to see this story on paper because I really feel that it has something to say. If you ever felt alone in your writing adventures, if you have felt like quitting or, if you had writer's block, or you were in love with someone and just needed to vent or just needed a little distraction from the everyday grind, then, 'The College Essay Guy' will help.
